| On January 6, 2021 we nearly lost our democracy as a mob who believed a lie about a stolen election stormed the US Capitol, intent on stopping Congress from their constitutional duty of receiving electoral votes from the states in the Presidential election and seizing key legislators -- or worse. It was a shameful insurrection. In the aftermath, I began to appreciate more the democracy that I've taken for granted. "We the People" is my way of honoring the flag I fought for in the US Army and the oath I took many years ago, "I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same." 210130.
