Watercolor: Tahoe Lupine Spikes - 14" x 14"

On a trip to the South Tahoe area in late June 2018, I saw these beautiful proud clusters of purple flowered spikes. California has about 70 varieties of lupine. I think this is Lupinus polyphyllus, variously known as Blue Pod Lupine or Large Leaf Lupine. I left the most sunlit areas white to bring out the sparkle of the blossoms in full sun. 210309.
